December 1th (New York Time) evening, Interior Design’s Best of Year (affectionately known as BoY) Ceremony was held on IAC Building and Daipu Architects was named the BEST of the best which represented the only winner of Bar/Lounge Category.
At the same time, the 12th BoY awards include RCR Arquitectes, Foster + Partners, Heatherwick Studio, Gensler, Neri & Hu, NADAAA, etc., which is a feast of construction industry. Daipu Architects has also stood out from many of the best architects around the world.
Interior Design was found in 1932, is considered the global, industry-leading design publication, website and events company serving the interior design, architectural and facility management audiences. Meanwhile, Interior Design’s Best of Year is the design industry’s premiere design awards program, honoring the most significant work of the year as well as recognizing designers, architects and manufacturers from around the globe.
We employ a set of new structural language in this prize-winning project, to simulate the special mountainous space of Chongqing. The mountainous terrain is introduced into the restricted concrete space with integration of a more subtle scale of furniture. This amplifies the dimensional feeling of the space, and also introduces the more relaxed body gestures (sit, lie, squat, lean) of the Chongqing local people (as well as how a natural person in an old neighbourhood will behave) into such a scene of modern life.
Anti-domino Series is reflection upon the city’s existing “boring structure” that inspires rethinking and redefinition. It is a new practice with different serial number and each number represents an entirely different intervention strategy.
